September 2007

I've attended a few guitar festivals during the summer. The last of the season will be 8th and 9th September at Cheltenham guitar show in Cheltenham Town Hall.

I'm currently working on an adjustable neck system that will allow the pitch of the neck to be adjusted with an allen key through the soundhole. This means that the action can be altered very easily without touching the saddle height. I'm also prototyping a cutaway on this guitar.

I've been building a series of Santos models, the latest with cedar top and palo escrito back and sides. Palo escrito is a rosewood found in Mexico that has qualities of the best rosewoods for guitar making.

I have set up a myspace site http://www.myspace.com/ajlucasluthier
 where you can see and hear my guitars being played and read comments on the instruments from 'friends'. There is also some footage of Lucas guitars on youtube.

November 2006

I've just completed the latest radial classical guitar using my new hybrid strutting pattern, which is a combination of fan and radial strutting. The guitar sounds amazing with a very full focus right across the range of the guitar and plenty of power too. I showed the guitar to Craig Ogden on its second day as a fully strung instrument and he had this to say;

"Adrian Lucas' innovative guitars have a beautifully strong, clean and clear sound with a depth and richness that enable the player to make strong contrasts while also retaining a very responsive touch at low dynamic levels. The treble and bass are beautifully matched and project with real strength and clarity - you really feel that the guitar isn't holding anything back."

....so, I'm now building a more traditional-shaped guitar based on a Santos Hernandez instrument, but using the new strutting pattern.
